On October 10, the Ladies of the Parish
turned out "In the Pink!" to show support for each other in the challenge
to keep our bodies fit for the Lord! We discussed the fact the every three
minutes a woman in this country is diagnosed with breast cancer and what
can be done to insure early prevention. All women over 40 should have a mammogram every year!
This saves lives!
We then focused on "Mary's Magnificat." Luke portrays Mary as a believer whose deep faith guided her life. Scripture is explicit in mentioning her presence among "those who believed" after the resurrection at the beginning of the Acts of the Apostles. Our desire to take adequate care of our bodies can grow directly out of a faith that understands that good stewardship includes how we treat our bodies and how clearly we recognize that our bodies themselves are the temple of the Spirit on earth! Therefore every Christian woman can say with Mary: "The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. "
